Now to shave those extra few shots

That quote should read golf! Same story. Next shot. Next hole. Next round.

I asked a pro the other day how I could shave those one or two shots a round of my scorecard.

'Hit them closer'. 'Or get an eraser'. Was his answer. Tongue in cheek.

I watch a lot of junior golf. And the top players go along easily shooting 3 to 5 under. No sweat.

My first two rounds of February were a medal round where I shot a 78. BLEGHH!
And Matchplay round where I shot 73.

The 78 was actually a good round with a bad score. 16 holes with 2 birdies and two drops. Level par. And then. Two triple drops on two holes. What the hell!

It was feeling like an easy 72 or lower. Hitting the ball nicely. And then BOOM. I play safe of the T with a 3 wood. And top it. TWICE!

As if my mind went to sleep for 5 minutes. Concentrating for 4 hours + is key.

My second round for the month I was 1 under with 3 holes to go. Middle fairway. Massive green. Pin left back. Instead of hitting it middle green. Two putt and walk away. I go for the pin. Tug it left. Into horrible thick long grass. The kind of place where snakes live.

I walked away with a double.

Making the correct decisions every time. Is key.

It's a mental game this. Its the software that matters.

I'm working this out though.
Know where your bad miss will be. Play to your strengths.

This week I will spend time at one of my favourite golf venues.

Can't wait to have a look at the courses. And follow the action from Sunday!

'A great golf shot starts in my hands and finishes in my heart'
Who said that?

See you on the fairways.
