24 January - Milnerton Golf Club

If you are a golfer and you are visiting Cape Town, Milnerton is a must play.
Even if you live in Cape Town, a summer and winter round here is a must.

The course was established in 1913. With changes made in 1985.

It's not a long course. But when the wind blows, like it can only blow here, it can turn into a great test.

The staff were helpfull and friendly.  The course was in good condition. The greens were pure. A True and speedy roll.

As is normal in summer the wind helps on the outward 9. The game and course seems easy.
As you turn back into the wind...The course and game pulls you back to size quickly.

You need a different skill set playing into 40-50km winds! Low running knock down and pitch and run shots becomes the norm.

The scenery is spectacular! And the sound of the Ocean and waves crashing only metres away from you is special.

It's a fun course to play. The 8th par 5 is seen as the signature hole. It's a good hole.

But I think 9 and 18 are
fantastic holes. With 9 my vote for signature hole.

The are some really fun holes on the course. The 7th is a short par 3. In 45km/h crosswinds it requires a precise knockdown shot.
The 13th Par 4 is also a great little hole. With water guarding the front and left side of the green. Playing into a 4 club wind from the front right, it's a testy second.

I would recommend a round here.
But look for a day when the wind pumps!
Test your wind game on a links course.

I promise you will have a more than few laughs and love it!

See you on the fairways.
