18 January - Rondebosch Golf Club

Rondebosch Golf Club produced a pearler of a day for the Rondebosch junior open today.

The course is 110 years old , and it's always a good test. Especially when the south easter blows through Cape Town.

Rondebosch has hosted seven consecutive Sunshine Tour events, two professional Ladies European Tour events and the South African Ladies Amateur Open. The canal river, which winds through the course, provides challenges to the best of players.

This year they are hosting the S.A. junior International again. And the SA womans IPT.

Views of Table Mountain and devil's peak adds to any visitors round of golf.

The golf was impressive with a number of players under par. And the U/19 winner going bogey free with 4 birdies to win by a shot at 4 under par.

The 4 ball I was following made 15 birdies and 2 eagles. These kids can play!

Also impressive was the U/13 winner shooting 2 under par 70!

Rondebosch is in good condition. No water issues like a summer or two ago.

The fairways are looking great. The greens looked good but played a little bumpy. All in all its probably the best I've seen it in the last few years.

It's a course with a lot of history. And one you have to play if you visit Cape Town.
